Seeking God: Day 4

Four days ago, I began an incredible journey.

 I began to seek God.

That statement would probably strike most people as odd. "Seeking God?" most people would ask, "Aren't you already saved?" Yes, I am. "Then why do you still want to seek God? Haven't you kind of already found Him?" Yes and no.

First, I would like to clarify that I am NOT seeking out some "greater manifestation" or "second work of grace". I am seeking to intimately know God. Yes, I do know Him now on a level, but I want to know Him more. I want to feel His presence in a very real and tangible way. I want to know His love and mercy and tender grace. So, four days ago, I decided to search.

If you would like to begin your own journey with me, I would encourage you to do so. I would also like to ask you to take a moment and read these verses below. Now, anytime I come to verses in a book or blogpost, I'm tempted to skip over them. Please don't do that. Read, and let God speak to your heart:

But from there you will seek the LORD your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 4:29 ESV)

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8 ESV)

that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for “‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, “‘For we are indeed his offspring.’ (Acts 17:27-28 ESV)

If you long for peace of spirit, eternal love, true and lasting satisfaction, abundant joy, and everlasting strength, seek God. Now, I won't leave you disillusioned; the more you seek Him and the more you find Him, the harder your life will get. The Enemy will come against you with all that He had to keep you from finding what you seek. The world will hate you because you search for the very thing they run from. Your flesh and remaining sin will not be your friend, because it is at war with the Spirit.

But I promise you; seek, and you WILL find. There is no question about it. God did not stutter when He spoke those verses. He promised, and He cannot lie. He delights to perform His promises. So seek Him today. You may not find Him on day one, but if you search the Scriptures without rest and cry out to Him day and night, you will find Him. And the reward will be infinitely worth the wait.
